Regeringen beslutade den 16 augusti 2018 att uppdra åt Trafikverket att utvärdera Trafikverkets beredskap och förebyggande åtgärder rörande statlig transportinfrastruktur vid omfattande skogsbränder eller extrema vädersituationer. Redovisningen sker i form av en rapport som bland annat innehåller en handlingsplan.
