GreCOR – Green Corridor in the North Sea Region Efficient, economic, safe and sustainable freight movement is essential to everyday life and society in the North Sea region and depend on value-adding transnational green corridors and operations. GreCOR promotes the development of a co-modal transport corridor in the North Sea Region. Important in this collaborative approach, is the that the focus is not only on the corridor itself, but also on secondary networks and the hubs, and the regional hinterland around the Green transport corridor between Oslo and the Randstad area (Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht). The project GreCOR – Green Corridor in the North Sea Region, co-funded by the Interreg IVB-North Sea Region Programme, which was started in 2012, has its foundations in several national and EU initiatives. The start of the project was also inspired by several other projects funded by the different EU Interreg Programmes, in which several of the 13 partners participated. Consequently, the GreCOR project has been a project covering several important perspectives on the overarching concept of Greening of transports, addressing the goals in the EU Transport White Paper - Roadmap to a Single European Transport Area – Towards a competitive and resource, COM (2011) 144.
