Recent studies have clearly shown that the benefits of dynamic weather related speed management applications (utilising variable speed limits) are obtained only for systems with high-quality real-time control. Recent studies have clearly shown that the benefits of dynamic weather-related speed management applications (utilising variable speed limits) are obtained only for systems with high-quality real-time control. To take the efforts in detection, validation, weather modelling and speed management further, a common Nordic workshop was held in September 2010. In this report the further development after the workshop is summarised. In the end of this report, recommendations are given to the still open questions that remain.
