Abstract [sv]
Syfte och mål: Målet med ValoFor är att belysa och förstå de privata enskilda skogsägarnas (i Finland, Sverige, Tyskland, Österrike och Slovenien) roll i omställningen mot en skogsbaserad bioekonomi. Detta görs genom att ta hänsyn till skogsägarnas värderingar och skötselstrategier. Den svenska medverkan sker som PI för WP1 (rubr Vinnova-projekt) handlar om att kartlägga de incitament och policys som finns för privata enskilda skogsägare i de fem länderna, samt kartlägga skogsägarnas attityder till skogsskötselstrategier samt viljan att medverka till omställningen mot en bioekonomi. Förväntade effekter och resultat: Hållbart nyttjande av naturresurser är ett centralt mål i många nationella och internationella policys och program. Det ses därmed som centralt att kunna behålla biologisk diversitet och samtidigt producera ekosystemtjänster. Skogens skötsel är en central del i arbetet för en ökad biobaserad ekonomi. Resultaten av projektet i stort, och av WP1, bidrar till utformandet av relevanta och effektiva nationella och internationella (EU) policys. Upplägg och genomförande: WP1 består av tre större aktiviteter: 1 Syntes av de olika nationella policys, incitament, stöd, rådgivningsfunktioner. 2 Kartläggning av skogsägarkårens storlek och sammansättning (socio-ekonomiskt, bosättning, beroende av skogsintäkter etc.) 3 Kartläggning (enkät) av skogsägarnas attityder till olika policies och incitament, skötselstrategier, anpassning, bevarande av skog.
Abstract [en]
Purpose and goal: The objective of ValoFor is to understand the contribution of small forest owners in the transition to a wood based bioeconomy by considering the perception and management strategies of small forest owners (in Finland, Sweden, Germany, Austria and Slovenia). The objective of WP1 is to investigate the potential/role of incentives for mobilising small forest owners to be key actors in the work towards a wood-based bioeconomy and how they can adapt to climate change. Expected results and effects: Sustainable use of natural resources is a central goal in many international and national policies,highlighting the ability of forest ecosystems to both maintain biological diversity and provide ecosystem services. A growing bio-based economy needs to take such policies and existing sustainability criteria for forest management into account. The results of the project as a whole, and WP1, will be useful for decision making in EU-wide, national and regional forest policy to determine how to mobilise wood based raw materials and other ecosystem services from small scale forestry. Approach and implementation: 1. Synthesis of different national policies, incentives, support and advisory systems. 2. Charting forest owners structure (size and composition) 3. Charting forest owners attitudes to different policies and incentives, management strategies, adaptive capacity, conservation etc.
